From writing policies to collections and accounting corrections
The records I inherited
After moving from policy writing into accounts, I worked through discrepancies across four years of older records. Changes between software systems had left some balances in the wrong accounts or unresolved.
What I did
I traced entries through the general ledger, checked supporting documents, followed up payments and corrected postings. Over six months, I cleared approximately OMR 50,000 in unresolved balances through collections and accounting corrections.
Help from someone who knew the branch
A long-serving colleague who served tea helped me retrieve the older files. He knew the branch’s history and where to look. His help made it possible to connect the ledger entries with their supporting records.
