A component study for a supplier discussion.
JNM 2001 reference. An explanatory material study for sourcing conversations.
Sourcing and material research

Why I studied this reference
I used this reference to organise questions about leather grade, fabric and lining. The purpose was to prepare a clearer supplier discussion before comparing samples and quotations.
Catalogue and quotation preparation
For this reference, the quotation questions cover leather grade and thickness, the cotton back, fleece coverage and sizing. These details would make supplier quotations easier to compare.
The questions behind each part
- Leather palm and reinforcement
- Grade, thickness, finish, panel construction and consistency.
- Cotton back
- Fibre composition, weave, fabric weight and fit.
- Fleece lining
- Fibre, weight, attachment and the coverage inside the glove.
- Cuff and binding
- Dimensions, finish, sizing and how the parts are assembled.
Where the work stands
Leather grade, lining and assembly still need supplier confirmation and physical samples. Any protective rating would require manufacturer documentation and appropriate testing.
